My Lovely Readers,

I am sorry for not posting lately. It was really hard to get back into the swing of things this semester. It’s been really hectic and honestly, I cannot wait to finish up this semester. I’m taking 19.5 credits and  am basically dying, so just bear with me if I don’t post as much as I should be.

Any who, exciting news of the day… I’M ON A DIET. A real diet that I promise to keep through with because 1. it’s good for me and 2. I’m paying for it. What diet do you think I’m on right now?

Take a guess…

Weight Watchers! I’ve never truly been on Weight Watchers before. I used to cheat the system; I had my friend give me some of their old books and I would just do everything, just not go to the meetings. Now, I decided to pay the $40 a month and am officially on Weight Watchers, meetings and all!

Let me tell you, I really enjoy this diet! It’s been two weeks and I’ve lost 4.4 lbs already! Speaking of a diet, I’m about to run to the dining hall. I’ll do a post tomorrow, hopefully! 🙂

xoxo

Holiday Diet: Day 7 (Don’t Get Mad)

Okay, I’m mentally preparing myself for you guys all to jump at me after this post. It’s officially been a week since I started my diet.. wow, have I been starving for THAT long? Lolz, kidding. Anywho.. here’s what I ate for the day.

Breakfast: Grande Nonfat Caramel Macchiato, xoxo

Lunch: French Dip Sandwich from the dining hall. Before you guys yell at me, I didn’t even eat that much of it. I didn’t eat any of the meat part, so I just had the bread and the cheese. But overall, the little sign said it was 240 calories and 8 grams of fat. If I subtract the meat, that’s probably a little healthier, right? And because salads are starting to get me annoyed, I went and got a little fruit salad which was AMAZING. Except for the fact that I had so many pineapples in my cup that it started to burn my tongue and my tongue was numb all day, haha. Still kind of it. Here’s a recipe for a healthy French Dip Sandwich.

Dinner: Okay, here’s where I’m prepared for you all to freak out on me. I just checked the dining hall website and today they are serving my favorite thing ever.. macaroni and cheese. The dining hall mac and cheese is my favorite thing ever and I literally look forward to this day every week. I’m warning you all, I’m going to eat it. However, I’m going to moderate my portion. Instead of putting ten pounds of macaroni and cheese on my plate, I’m going to do like a palm size full of it. Therefore, I can still indulge in my mac and cheese while at the same time, I won’t regret it as badly.

I’m also planning on bringing a little baggy to hold some fruit salad so I can have some tonight. My roommates have been eating their late night snacks and I’m not going to lie, it’s really tempting to eat cheeze-its or make popcorn while we’re doing homework at like 11:30pm. Last night, I snacked on my banana and it was okay. But bananas bore me after like 3 bites. So, I’m going to try and vary everything by eating like mixed fruits tonight!

Anyways, not as bad as a post as I was planning on writing. I thought over what the cause and effects of eating a lot of macaroni and cheese and decided to just go for a small portion. If I can make this decision, I really am hoping that none of you are cheating on your diets! Remember, the only one you’re cheating is yourself! xoxo

Holiday Diet: Day 6

So, today was just like every other day on my diet. I haven’t been feeling well lately, so I haven’t really been eating too much.

Breakfast: Nothing

Lunch: Chicken Quesadilla from the dining hall. Okay, don’t go gasping and yelling at me. It was 200 calories and 6 grams of fat, according to the little sign next to the station. Here’s a decent recipe, it’s a little more calories and fat probably because it’s a bigger serving. Just remember, be cautious of how much you’re eating. Buy fat free sour cream instead, put lots of vegetables on there. I’d rather eat lots of tomatoes and onions and junk on my quesadilla, then get full of that rather than eating a full quesadilla filled with cheese and crap. I didn’t have salad either, I just wasn’t in the mood to eat really.

Dinner: Pesto flatbread with tomatoes and cheese. This is a healthy recipe also. I, again, didn’t have salad. I was too lazy to go to the salad station. I’m so tired and worn out from being sick that I can’t do anything. I’m like dying. It sucks.

However, I did manage to steal three bananas from the dining hall. Bananas are good because they help reduce stress (at least that’s what my friends tell me) and they’re perfect for these next couple of weeks. Finals kills most college students, so eating something filling and healthy like a banana is perfect! And if bananas aren’t your cup of tea, I understand. They’re kind of boring. Try eating them with a little bit of peanut butter or nutella. I’d say peanut butter is better, but nutella is fine too. Just make sure it’s a SMALL portion. Don’t go eating nutella and a banana. The nutella or peanut butter is supposed to compliment your banana, not cover the taste. 😉

I didn’t work out today because I just want to kill myself. I hope dayquil and nyquil don’t have calories in it because my diet will be screwed. I’m going to take more dayquil now, lol. I promise I’ll have better posts later, I just can’t focus, lol. xoxo

Holiday Diet: Days 2 and 3 (Weekend Edition)

We all know the toughest days to be on a diet are the weekends. Let’s be honest, who wants to go on a nice date with your boyfriend in town and order a spring salad, substituting the dressing for balsamic vinaigrette and putting the dressing on the side? That’s not even the worst part of it. You then have to watch your man eat a greasy hamburger in front of your face and suck the delicious salt off his fingers. I’m sorry, but that stuff makes me crazy.

So what are some good ways to eat what you want at a restaurant without giving up all the diet and exercise you did over the week??

I know from personal experience that it’s all about portions. Why do you think so many women lose weight off of Weight Watchers? It’s not like they change their daily lifestyle that much, it’s because they eat in less portions. Instead of eating until you have an octomom-style food baby, eat until you’re not hungry anymore. I understand, you love going to your favorite restaurant and ordering the chicken parm and it’s the weekend, you should be allowed to indulge a little, but instead of eating 3 pieces of bread doused in butter before and eating tiramisu after, just eat the chicken parm and take some home. How wonderful is it when you can have your chicken parm again later in the week? Not only will it save you money for not having to make yourself dinner that night, but you won’t feel bloated the whole entire night.

Personally, I don’t have a boyfriend so a typical weekend of a college girl consists of going out and drinking and dancing with my friends. I was thinking about it on Friday, but do you know how many calories go into alcohol? There’s about 95-125 calories in each shot. So for me, it takes me a bunch of shots to get drunk (I’m sure my mom is loving this post right now, lol), so let’s say I’d have like 6 or 7 shots in a night, that’d be around 700 calories right there. Now, it’s not like I’m going to drink the alcohol straight; most of the time, I’ll have a chaser or mix it with something. So that’s even more calories! And then when you’re drunk and after a fun night, you often order obscenely unhealthy food and eat that as you go to bed. So all those calories are stupid. Grant it, you may lose some calories by dancing the night away, but most girls just grind on some guy. How many calories can you lose swaying back and forth with your butt pressed up against a guy? Let’s be real.

So, I took a vow to not drink this weekend and I did it! I walked around with a water bottle full of water and most people thought it was vodka. Not only did it help me drink the many glasses of water you’re supposed to drink (I filled it up like 3 times), I wasn’t dehydrated and had a lot of fun. I danced with all of my friends and burned a disgusting amount of calories walking around Ithaca over the weekend. Literally, I was everywhere in Ithaca. It was crazy.

Then I didn’t eat that bad at the dining hall. I had an egg white omelette for breakfast on Saturday with lots of vegetables in it, I had salad for lunch, and then had sushi for dinner with some of my friends. Then Friday night dinner sucked, so I had pita and hummus. Lol, good thing I didn’t drink because a normal person would probably throw up if they only had a pita and hummus and then binge drink.

Anyway, the moral of the story:
If you’re in college and want to lose weight, DON’T DRINK. Over the weekend, I didn’t have about 1500 calories. And yet, I still had just as much fun as I normally do. Remember, you CAN have fun without drinking. And if your friends will make fun of you or judge you for not drinking, who cares? Just remember them teasing you when they all have beer bellies come second semester. Or you can just trick them like me 😉 But my friends didn’t care, they were cool about it.

And if you’re not into the drinking scene, it’s fine. INDULGE a little! It is the weekend! Just make sure to cautious of what you’re doing. Don’t order wine with your dinner, have water. Don’t eat the whole platter, save some for later. Is dessert really that necessary? Have a cappuccino instead! And if your man buys dessert for you to share regardless, take a bite or two. Don’t finish it and if you want, wrap that up too! You shouldn’t feel obligated to eat anything you don’t want to.

Remember, losing weight is your decision. You’re in complete control of what’s around you. You need to have the filter that goes “hmm, cheeseburger or salad?” You need to think of the consequences and be aware. I believe in all of you and can’t wait to see what happens to you all! I want to lose about 20 pounds by January 23rd. That’s a lot. I’m currently 250 pounds heavy. I honestly though believe that I can lose it if I work hard. Set yourself a goal and work for it! If you don’t reach your goal, that’s fine. Set more goals and sooner or later, you’ll make it to there! Good luck!

Tis the Season.. For a Diet!

I know we’re all excited for the 25 days of Christmas, but what about the 25 days of my new diet? I decided about twenty three minutes ago when my professor recorded a video of me playing for my class and he zoomed in on my face and like after I stopped playing, I was staring at people waiting for comments. And something about the camera angle and zoom.. omg, I had like 12 chins. It freaked me out. Freaked me out to the point that I was like thoroughly creeped out.

Now listen, I’ve dieted before. I’ve done the losing weight thing.. whether it be Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, Atkins or whatever, I’ve tried it. I’ve realized Weight Watchers works the best, but it’s hard with college because there isn’t really any nutritional information hanging around. It’s not like I can pull out my slider and calculate the points or measure everything into measuring cups at school, you know? In one of the dining halls there’s nutritional information, but that dining hall has like only fried food, so it’s stupid.

I’m going to try and eat healthy, try and work out, and do whatever I can to lose some poundage. I might even try and post some videos on various work outs and stuff. It depends if I can ever find some free time when I’m in my room. I’m not making any promises and there will probably be days where I mess up and eat something bad, but bare with me. I’m going to try.

I don’t want to weigh myself, but I’m going to need to. I’m going to go to the gym and find out my exact weight tomorrow. Wah. These posts aren’t fun. Lol.

Okay, well leave comments if you please. Have you ever dieted? Any tips for a college girl? Help! xoxo
